Motivation for the game: I was exploring the business case for a video game that can help reduce anxiety while navigating the courtship period of a relationship.
Business case: People are willing to pay extra amount of money to give them the confidence that they are marrying correctly. This game helps them build that confidence. The plan was to partner with matchmakers and/or dating apps to provide their customers with games to accelerate the process of getting to know each other.
Game concept inspiration: I saw many of friends struggling to navigate courtship and I thought a game could really help with that
Game details: The game is a 2 player game that a couple can play (remotely or locally) to get to know each other better. The game environment provides a variety of scenarios (example shown below) which serve as a stimuli to push the couple to have conversations on certain subjects. This in turn allows them to get to know each other better in a shorter amount of time than what they would do otherwise.
I listed down about 200 different scenarios to serve as a complete list of all the subjects that a couple should talk about before marriage.
Date of development: February 2024
Development time: 1 month
Market Research: I studied the dating market and also conducted customer interviews. I could validate the need for the product.
What I learnt: For this game I created a framework to combine learning objectives, wellness objectives and entertainment objectives into a game experience. This was the first game where I did a market research, built a business case, wrote a full game design doc and also did some very basic prototyping on unity.
Conclusion: I did not pursue the game idea because I got a better business opportunity to design a game on Shiva.
